Does a negative self image affect your self esteem because you were violated?

Are you struggling with guilt, shame, or blame as a result of sexual abuse?

Have you tried to solve the problems in your life on your own and realized you need help from someone else?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you have made the right choice by being here.

And we know this is hard. You've likely been debating seeking help for months, if not years. But we're so glad you found us and have taken the courageous step of being here.

  • Not at all. People who ask for help know when they need it and have the courage to reach out. Everyone needs help now and then. In our work together, I’ll help you explore and identify your strengths and how to implement them to reduce the influence of the problems you are facing.

  • As your therapist, we can help you approach your situation in a new way– teach you new skills and gain different perspectives, listen to your internal system without judgment or expectations, and help you to be more Self-led. Counseling is completely confidential. You won’t have to worry about others “knowing your business”, in session you can be vulnerable without fear of judgement.  In therapy, you don’t have to carry shame or hide parts of yourself you don’t like as you get to know them better. Lastly, if your situation provokes an undesired emotion, the risk of damaging a relationship with a friend or family member is avoided with a Self-led therapist.

  • Individual Therapy: Most health insurance plans do cover mental health therapy. Some plans require a copay, co-insurance, and/or require you to meet a deducible. While you are waiting for your schedule, consultation, contact your insurance company to find out about what is covered by your specific plan.

  • Medication can be effective but it alone cannot solve all issues. Sometimes medication is needed in conjunction with counseling. Our work together is designed to explore and unpack the problems you are experiencing and expand on your strengths to help reach your personal goals.

  • Because each person has different issues and goals for therapy, it will be different depending on the individual. I tailor my therapeutic approach to your specific needs.

  • Unfortunately, this is not possible to say in a general FAQs page. Your circumstances are unique to you. The length of time counseling depends on your goals, your commitment, and the factors driving you to seek counseling in the first place.

  • We are so glad you are dedicated to getting the most out of your sessions. Your active participation, dedication, and commitment to your growth and healing is crucial to your success.

  • At the onset of beginning therapy, we highly recommend you attend sessions weekly. What studies have shown is individuals receive the most benefit from beginning weekly and transitioning to less frequently scheduled session when life and your situation has stabilized and your managing better. This will also depend on client and therapist availability.

  • Yes with a few exceptions. Therapy is covered under the Health Insurance Privacy & Accountability Act (HIPAA). That means we cannot confirm or deny you involvement in therapy without a client signed Release of Information. If using insurance, the only information your insurance company will receive is a billing code and diagnose code.

Theses exceptions to confidentiality are required by law:

-Suspected abuse or neglect of a minor, dependent adult, or elderly person.

-If a client threatens serious body harm to another person

-If a client expresses intent to harm themselves.

Your therapist will make every effort to work transparently and collaboratively to promote safety of clients and others.
